This is incredibly lovely. I often hesitate to touch stories dealing with how the Doctor's timeline and River's intersect at this point, because they never feel quite right to me, but this one rings absolutely true.

Well.’ He clears his throat, and she feels her hand being gripped a little tighter. ‘We never do manage to tell them that at the time, do we? Human language is so limiting and frustrating, never the right words, always something missing.’
I love your Eleven who has grown older and wiser, as well as all of the stages of River you've given us. But the moment that took my breath away was the love scene, with the tears. Imagining it must be Ten, still mourning Rose even as he took comfort in his future, falling apart in River's arms just floored me.
