In an attempt to get writing again, I'm snagging this meme from [ profile] astolat.

Tell me about a story I haven't written, and I'll give you between one and three sentences from that story.

Have at me!

(Also, in completely unrelated news, I saw Peter Capaldi in The Ladykillers last night! It was AMAZING. I was in the eighth row, and I mostly managed to keep my eyes on the action and not glued to his gorgeousness the entire time. Mostly.)

So the plot bunny I mentioned last night seems to be a go. At least, I've worked out all the timelines and personalities and at least some of the plot threads, and written the first major scene (which is 2200 words, fml).

The question is - would anyone be interested in sort of reading along with me as I write it? You wouldn't need to do any too heavy beta-ing, although I'd always love any suggestions you had. I just...I'm used to writing and posting very quickly, and I'm afraid if I try to write this all out before anyone sees it I may lose interest halfway through and never finish it. I considered posting as I go - which is what I did with my previous two longfics, Charity and In Another Life - but I really want to keep open the option of editing earlier bits as I write later bits, which I always feel odd doing if the initial version is posted on the meme.

If this sounds at all like something you'd be interested in, let me know. The four main characters are 2010 intake Labour MPs, and there probably won't be much input from the coalition side at all (just fyi). I'd also be happy to show you the first bit and let you decide if this is something you'd want to keep doing.

I tried to go to bed almost an hour ago, but snuggling under my duvet was interrupted by the sudden arrival of a plot bunny. Eventually I had to pick my laptop up and start writing it down and doing preliminary research.

Well, we'll see how I feel in the morning, but I really like this bunny. I've been a bit antsy lately, wanting to write something a bit plottier, with new characters, something that took a while to develop and had more complex threads. Most of the things I've been writing recently have been one-shots - and that format is fine, and I love it, but occasionally I just want to stretch myself a little bit?

Anyway, I am giving NOTHING away yet - like I said, this may all look ghastly in the morning - but I'm excited. :D

So, on a happier note than my last post (locked to friends only), here's what my October looks like in review! :)

From the 1st through the 10th I was working flat-out on writing an academic article, so there was no fic. There was however a very successful academic article draft, which was duly sent off to my PhD dissertation adviser. So that was good. :)

But from the 10th onwards there has been fic. Quite a lot, actually, as those of you who have been subjected to it on your friendslist are no doubt well aware! 33 fics and 35,826 words in all.

I don't know if I'll be able to keep to that pace this next month - for one thing, I may need to find a new flat, and for another, I should start writing another academic article - but I will definitely keep writing. My AO3 account is up to 75 fics (72 of which are UK Politics), and I'd love to get it up to 100 by Christmas.

Anyway, for fun and giggles, here's some statistics on the October haul. Of the 33 fics, Michael Gove played a starring role in 8 (thanks largely to the early-October Gove party), and managed to sleep with just about everyone. I wrote my second, third, and fourth New Labour fics. 7 fics involved threesomes (or moresomes). The Jeremy Browne/William Hague ongoing saga got three new installments (and hints in another fic). There was a trilogy surrounding the Liam Fox/Adam Werritty scandal. My 50-fic party at the meme brought codas to both Charity and In Another Life. And I finally wrote a crossover between politics and Doctor Who, which, let's face it, was going to happen sooner or later.

And the list itself, da da da dum.

All right, bed now! See all of you lovelies on the other side.

I just counted them up, and I've written 32 fics so far this prompt post.

I knew there were a lot, but I had no idea there were that many! No wonder it feels like I've been writing flat out. :)

Haven't done any writing today - did work in the morning, and been watching the EU debate this afternoon - but will probably do some tomorrow. I wonder if I can get up to 50 on this prompt post? We're only halfway through the comment cap.

But for now I think I'm going to go watch some Spooks. :)

I am sleepy sleepy sleepy, and I have written, oh, 8,000 words and 9 fics in the past day and a half.

Plus coded the newsletter, although to be fair I was mostly keeping up with that throughout the week, except I forgot the Old Prompt Fills and had to scramble to do those at the last minute (and of course they are the most complicated to code, mostly WIPs with triggers). But it's all up now, and I think the html works. At any rate no one has complained yet.

But for now, I think it's time for me to be off to bed. Tomorrow's a new day - a new, cold day if the forecasts are to be believed - and I have to get up and go to work in the morning.

I would be remiss, however, if I closed this without thanking everyone who has been reading and commenting on my fics. You are all simply lovely, and I adore you. Thank you for everything. I don't think I would have half the inspiration to write were it not for your constant encouragement and friendship. I still can't quite believe I'm at 58 fics - 60, if you count the two Doctor Who fics, although I think my audiences from the two fandoms are largely separate - and I would never, never have gotten there without all of you. You know who you are. There are not enough <3333 in the world to express my gratitude.

Hello there, everyone!

I had a project at work that I absolutely needed to finish, so that's why there hasn't been any fic from me this week. But it's DONE now - hurrah! - so I am free to return to the fic-writing fold. And there are so many lovely prompts just waiting for me! A Shadow Cabinet reshuffle and a (maybe? perhaps?) soon-to-be Cabinet reshuffle? Theresa May and Ken Clarke getting into a catfight? Chris Huhne and Liam Fox doing their best to get the coalition past "catgate"? A Gove rare!pair minifill? I am salivating here. :)

But that will be tomorrow. Meanwhile, I have finished coding the newsletter! We used to have a newsletter, but the anon running it had to bow out due to real-life constraints. With the new situation at delicious, as well as concerns over triggers, people began suggesting that the newsletter be brought back. So I've taken up the cause! I'll try to get it up every Sunday from now on. The first one is here, and covers all the fills on the current prompt post.

I had no IDEA how much work that was going to be, lol. The coding doesn't seem like much, until you start doing it. I'm very glad that from now on I'll be doing it as I go, instead of trying to do almost two weeks of fills at one time. But it all looks shiny and lovely now, so I'm happy. (Hopefully all the links work - if not please let me know.)

Look for more fic from me soon! Until then, have a lolitical evening. :)

Welcome to my master fic post for fandoms other than UK Politics RPF! (For those fics, see this post, ordered by date, or this post, ordered by size and party/era/) So far, it's still pretty empty, but that may change in future.

Before going through this post, or the other one, see my user info for my disclaimer and a word on my ratings.

On to the fics! )
